To Huji
Soft white fur like early snow,
Darkened ears and gentle eyes,
You brought a warmth I came to know,
A quiet comfort, sweet and wise.
No gentle thumping on the floor,
No curious twitching of your nose,
Yet near the threshold of the door,
Your memory tenderly grows.
Across the meadows, green and deep,
Where endless summer breezes blow,
Run free, sweet friend, in peaceful sleep,
Beyond where shadows go.
Though quiet now the room may seem,
Your gentle spirit stays behind,
A soft light resting in a dream,
Forever loved, forever kind.
