Moth Girl Dissonance · Christine Deschenes
Moth Girl Dissonance(Artwork Reflective Writings)
poem by
Christine Deschenes
Dissonance invites viewers to meditate on the complexity of identity, change, and self-acceptance through
periods of struggle and transformation.
Caught between worlds—no longer entirely human, yet not fully moth, she feels the coexistence of vulnerability
and inner strength, the inner tension between shadow and light. Not yet fully embracing the potential of her
wings.
This inner conflict is suggesting that transformation is as much a struggle as it is an awakening.
Notes about Metamorphosis Series:
In this series I explore the experience of transformation — the constant movement of life, its impermanence, and
our deep need to stay grounded through it all.
Moth-Girl is a recurring symbolic figure in my work — an embodiment of vulnerability, transformation, and the
search for inner light. Through this ongoing series, I explore the liminal spaces between silence and self-
expression, fear and becoming, fragility and strength. Drawn toward the light, Moth-Girl gradually discovers that
she carries it within herself.
