poem by    Kanika Verma
When he nurtured me with his care and gave me a new birth, with every fresh moment of love a poem was born inside me. Wiping the tears from my eyes, he said: “I haven’t come to be your crutch, but to walk by your side,” I paused, then withdrew in hesitation. Once again, I was afraid lest the Amrita within me mistake him for Imroz. When I sat in meditation, immersed in devotion to the Divine, calling out to God in that moment of solitude, The image of the Lord did not appear before me; instead, his face returned to my thoughts again and again. I startled, then trembled with unease. Once again, I was afraid lest the Meera within me mistake him for Krishna. When he brushed away the hair scattered across my face, kissing my forehead and my eyes with his lips, when the furthest edge of his tongue touched my cheeks, when his lips began leaving their marks upon mine I blushed, then I smiled Once again, I was afraid lest the Juliet within me mistake him for Romeo.
