Bio

My paintings are a direct response to the rugged, shifting beauty of the Canadian landscape. For many years, my life was rooted in the fast-paced corporate world, where I led large teams as a tech sales manager. However, my true grounding always came from the wilderness. An avid outdoor enthusiast, my deepest inspiration has long been fueled by weeks spent backcountry camping, hiking, and fishing in Canada’s remote spaces. Ultimately, it was this profound connection to the land...and a desire to capture its raw, untamed essence that compelled me to step away from tech sales and commit fully to painting.

I have been part of a number of exhibits in the GTA- I have displayed my art at The Station Gallery(Whitby), Gallery 1313(Queen St) and Blue Crow gallery(Gerrard St) recently.
This year,I won an award for the best landscape painting at the Robert McLaughlin gallery in Oshawa for their Juried exhibition and displayed my piece there for the period.
I am a member of the Society of Canadian artists, Oshawa art association and the Artists network.

Artist Statement

Rooted in the traditions of Post-Impressionism and the Canadian Group of Seven, my work explores the dialogue between light, shadow, and local topography; from the quiet canopies of the Seaton Trail to the wide horizons of Frenchman’s Bay. Working primarily in oils and acrylics, I employ an expressive, "expressive Impressionism" style. Rather than blending smooth transitions, I use thick, deliberate, and unblended brushstrokes to capture the immediate energy of a place. I am fascinated by the moments where light fractures across a landscape, creating dramatic, high-contrast values. For me, a painting is not merely a record of a geographic location, but an attempt to translate the physical and emotional experience of being completely immersed in the Canadian wild.
